CST 8128 — Lab 8

1. Review section 6.1 (starting on page 248) on Do Loops, from your reading assignment.
2. Follow the example procedures 1 to 4 (pages 149 to 252).
3. Do several of the exercises on pages 253 to 2259, especially Exercises 32 to 39 on pages 258 and 259, and record the ones you did in your Weekly Log Sheet.
4. Move on to section 6.2 (starting on page 260) on Processing Lists of Data with Do Loops, which you read last week.
5. Follow the example procedures 1 to 5 (pages 260 to 265).
6. Do several of the practice exercises on pages 271 to 273, numbers 15 to 27, and record the ones you did in your Weekly Log Sheet.
7. Go to on to section 6.3 (starting on page 274) on For ... Next Loops.
8. Follow the example procedures 1 to 4 (pages 276 to 280).
9. Do some of the practice exercises on pages 280 to 283, numbers 1 to 25, and record the ones you did in your Weekly Log Sheet.

Evaluation Tasks:

• Answer a 10-minute, open-book, offline quiz (no computer allowed) on material up to and including Chapter 5.  The quiz will be handed out near the end of the Lab at 11:40 and must be returned to the instructor 10 minutes later.
• Demonstrate your solution to any one of problems 26 to 44 (pages 284 to 287) to your instructor, illustrating the correct use of either a Do loop or a For/Next loop in your programming. Be sure to demonstrate the correct use of one of the looping constructs.   Use good style (proper indentation, comments, functions and subprograms) in all your programming.
• Before you leave the Lab today, hand in to your instructor a Weekly Log Sheet with the following information:
1. Your name, printed legibly.
2. Your student number, also printed to be readable.
3. Today's Lab number and today's date.
4. The list of practice exercises and problems you tried while working on this section of the textbook (from the list of practice exercises and problems assigned above).

Before next week:

Read the first part of Chapter 7 on "Arrays", particularly sections 7.1 and 7.2, in preparation for next week.  Do the examples.  Start work on the programming evaluation task.

Keep a written record of any problems or exercises you attempt so that you may enter this information into next week's Weekly Log Sheet.
